Engineering Technician
Biomedical Equipment, Devices and Instrumentation
Up to $30.00 per hour to start
Chicago - West Loop / Medical District

As a Biomedical Engineering Technician, your job duties and responsibilities will include:

- Working on-site within the UIC Medical District
- Installing, testing, calibrating and repairing biomedical equipment, devices and instrumentation
- Evaluating and approving new biomedical equipment, devices and instrumentation
- Conducting tests and ensuring compliance to all applicable codes
- Making modifications as necessary
- Troubleshooting, diagnosing and repairing malfunctions
- Coordinating special service as necessary
- Maintaining preventive maintenance schedules
- Maintaining equipment inventories and reordering as necessary
- Providing equipment operation demonstrations and training new users
- Answering questions and providing information upon request
- Evaluating service contracts
- Producing routine and special reports
- Collaborating with device manufacturers to improve medical device performance
- Always maintaining a safe and clean work environment
- Participating in continuing education opportunities whenever possible

An ideal candidate profile will include:

- At least two years of related / similar experience with medical equipment, devices and instrumentation

- The ability to service, install, calibrate, test and repair medical equipment, devices and instrumentation

- Knowledge of JCAHO (Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations) standards

- An Associate's or Bachelor's Degree

Pluses...

+++ A Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Electronics or similar

+++ JCAHO or related certification[s]

+++ Prior related experience in a hospital/medical center setting
