WARNING: Beware WhatsApp Scams
There are an increasing number of scam messages being sent through WhatsApp impersonating recruiters and recruitment companies, including JobGiraffe. They are promoting fake job ads and trying to obtain personal information from the recipient (read more here). These are criminals targeting job seekers who may reach out to you with job offers. They are trying to obtain your personal data, including social security numbers and other information, by illegal means.
If someone contacts you on WhatsApp claiming to be from JobGiraffe and it appears to be a phishing message or a scam, please block the number and report the scam by going to the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) website: ReportFraud.ftc.gov.
Here are some tips on how to spot a phishing message:- It’s a message that you weren’t expecting
- It comes from a number or email address you don’t recognize
- If it contains a link – do not click!
- It offers unrealistic salaries or working arrangements
- They are asking for money or personal details, such as your resume
- The ad is poorly written and contains spelling errors
