Communication and Event Coordinator
Up to $52,000 to start
Chicago, IL 60611 - Near North Side

Your duties and responsibilities will include:

- Coordinating all Marketing, PR and Social Media activity
- Processing press releases, position statements and all other official communications
- Coordinating and planning all sponsored events
- Selecting event locations
- Conducting event set-ups, walk thrus and break downs
- Soliciting and recruiting volunteers for events
- Handling event registration and check in processes
- Maintaining all needed promotional support materials
- Creating thank you letters for sponsors, speakers, volunteers and attendees
- Collecting photos and event images
- Creating exciting and captivating digital content
- Posting to Socia Media; Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc. daily
- Creating print marketing collateral; banners, promotional signs for events, informational brochures and other pieces as needed
- Maintaining sponsor, attendee and volunteer files
- Attending board meetings, preparing agendas and taking minutes
- Processing compliance documents; Insurance riders, Annual Reports, Licenses
- Managing equipment needs; copier, phones, internet, office supplies, postage
- Maintaining the organization's website using Wordpress (training provided if needed)
- Preparing and distributing a weekly newsletter
- Networking with related community organizations

The ideal candidate profile will include the following skills, experience and education:

- Any Associate's or Bachelor's Degree
- Event planning experience
- Social media creation and management experience
- Marketing and Public Relations experience
- Proven ability to lead, organize and execute
- Above average computer skills and a high comfort level with technology
- Various devices, tools, apps and software including:
> MS Office Suite
> Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign is most critical for flyers, posters and other collateral marketing materials)
> Hootsuite or other Social Media Management tools
> Smart phones (Android and iPhone) and digital cameras
- Exceptional organizational skills
- The ability to work nights and weekends as needed for events
- The ability to be on your feet for extended periods or time plus bend, lift, carry and move items up to 30lbs for events
- A valid driver's license
